Better Than Newlyweds

Where the Honeymoon never ends!

12 Date Night Ideas: One Date Night a Month

March 13, 2014 by Mrs. Hudson

It is the list of date night ideas you have been looking for…one (almost free) date night a month! That doesn’t sound like a lot does it? But how many of us DO it?

I have put a list of date night ideas at the end of this post to help us all out! My husband and I talk about date night but it is not planned or marked on the calendar like it should be… we want to make a habit of it before we have kids one day! We know it will be harder to have time alone then especially if we don’t make it a habit now! I’ve put together a list of simple date night ideas and most of them are free!

A date isn’t about the amount of money you spend but the quality of the time you spend together. So, go get ice cream and chat… Date your hubby (or wife) again! 😀 Your kids will thank you when they are older and realize what an awesome example you set!

Date Night Ideas:

  1. Rent a movie and enjoy it with take out from your favorite local restaurant.
  2. Exercise together – go for a jog, play your favorite sport together, bike ride, etc.
  3. Go thrift store shopping.
  4. Get out old pictures of your life together and chat about your favorite memories.
  5. Hit a bucket of balls at the driving range.
  6. Test drive a car just for fun.
  7. Do a progressive dinner – appetizer at one place, main course at another, and dessert at a final location
  8. Make a fire in a fire pit and roast s’mores.
  9. Take in a local sporting event.
  10. Challenge each other in a game of Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, Sorry, or other board game favorite.
  11. Visit a free museum.
  12. Go out for frozen yogurt or ice cream.

There are enough date night ideas for you to do one per month. You marriage is worth investing a few hours one night a month right? Your kids will thank you. Your spouse will thank you. YOU will thank you! If we make these simple changes and put forth the effort to honor our marriages… God will honor that obedience to His word.

Date Night Questions

November 16, 2013 by Mrs. Hudson

Date nights are so important. They sound cliche but think about it…cliches become cliches because they are usually obvious truths. Married couples need to date! After a few years of being married some folks feel like they don’t have anything left to talk about! But the truth is you are always changing and so is your spouse.  So ask some of these questions on your next date night (you have a date night right?! 🙂 ) and see where the conversation leads. In order to have a marriage better than newlyweds we must continue to get to know our spouse and appreciate who they are and Love them for it.

1. If there was a movie about your life, what songs would you want on the soundtrack?

2. In that movie, what actor past or present would you want to play you?3. If you could have named yourself, what name would you have chosen?4. What is your favorite thing about yourself?

5. What is one thing you wish you could change about yourself?

6. What was your biggest fear when you were a child?

7. What is your biggest fear now?

8. Besides our wedding and the day kids were born, what is your all-time favorite day?

9. What would you do with the money if we won the lottery?

10. What would you do tomorrow if you lost your job and money and we had to start over?

I think you will be surprised with all that you learn about your spouse. I also think you will be surprised by how learning more about your spouse improves your marriage. The more we know about our spouse the better we can understand their point of view and where they are coming from. We need to constantly be observing our spouse and learning about them so that we can serve them and meet their needs. “Date night” is a way to be sure you get some one on one time.
