You sang “Good Good Father” in church yesterday, right? It really is the perfect song for Father’s day. That song has been in my head and on my heart for several months now. He really is a good good Father yall!
This past week I was blessed to be able to have lunch with with a dear friend. It was good for my soul to be able to reconnect with her in person and talk about what God has done lately. We also talked about the struggles we go through. It was so good to know that we weren’t the only ones. It was a visit that made me grateful and reminded me that He really is a good good Father.
A certain part of my visit made me even more grateful. It made me feel like His favorite! We had lunch because she and her family are moving back to where they are missionaries. They were packing and were getting rid of anything that couldn’t fit in their suitcases. They gave me nice computer monitor, a bluetooth speaker, a nice cooking pan, and this neat fold-up high chair for Sarah. I was blown away by the blessings. Then, on top of that, they loaded my car with great stuff for my sister’s adoption yard sale fundraiser!
I realize the items they gave me probably seem random to you. They were not random to me. Each of them is something I haven’t bought because ours were working fine or we could do without. I was going to wait until after my hubby’s campaign for Metro Councilman. And even then I’d probably still wait until we were further along with our Dave Ramsey Baby Steps. I don’t know when but it wasn’t anytime in the near future… of my timeline.
But God is a good good Father and He cares about the smallest things I carry in my heart!
Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:3-4
He knew how much I really wanted a new monitor so that I could write at my desk. He knew how much I wanted a bluetooth speaker so I could play music at our fourth of July parties. He also knew I wanted one so I could play worship music in the house! He knew my hard working hubby uses our cooking pan every morning and that it would be nice to have a new one. He knew our baby girl is old enough to sit at the table with us now but we were struggling to find a spot for her big high chair to be permanently in our house. He knew that I wanted my sister’s fundraiser to be a huge success so he provided a car full of goodies for them!
Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5
He cares about the smallest things we carry in our hearts because He really is a Good Good Father!
I think the fulfillment of these small desires will mean great things for my family. More worship music playing in our house will bring peace and the right perspective. Sitting as a family at the table will bring us closer and help us teach our daughter God’s plan for family. A new cooking pan will mean less stress for my hardworking hubby. The new monitor means that I can work harder on this blog while actually sitting at my desk.
I think even if no one read my blog posts I would continue to write them. I learn so much about God and His plan for marriage and family by writing each week. I feel like God has used my calling to write to bless me and my marriage most of all. Which makes me feel like His favorite again!
He likes to make us all feel like His favorite though right? And He longs to do so…because it’s true.
He really is a good good Father.

|Good, Good Father
By Chris Tomlin & Pat BarrettIn Good Good Father by Chris Tomlin and Pat Barrett, Tucker is a little bear whose town is in trouble. Tucker seeks help from the King, and plans to bring Him a perfect gift. Along the way he encounters a variety of delightful and funny animals who each know one great thing about the King, but each of the animals has a different view of what makes Him so great. The advice confuses Tucker and he is still unsure of what to give as a gift. What if the King doesn’t have time for him and what if He won’t help? Just as Tucker is about to give up, the King runs to him offering love, acceptance, and help. A wonderfully illustrated story for young children ages 4 to 8 years, assuring them that God truly is a good, good Father and that they are all loved by Him.
